Jolt Solutions is a deep-tech electrode coating company, spun out of ICIQ — a catalysis research institute ranked amongst the world's top 5. Our mission is simple: bring 21st-century electrodes to the industries that will decarbonise our economy.
Our story
Born out of a top-5 catalysis institute
Jolt Solutions is the largest spinoff of ICIQ — the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia — one of the most prestigious catalysis research institutes in the world, consistently ranked in the global top 5 for its discipline.
For years, our founding team watched industrial electrochemistry stagnate on 50-year-old coating methods while the clean-energy transition demanded a step change. They developed — and patented — SPARKFUZE™: an exothermal process that coats electrodes in under a minute, with a fraction of the energy and a fraction of the precious-metal loading.
Today, Jolt's Barcelona factory produces electrodes for AWE, AEM, chlor-alkali, electrowinning and beyond — and is already shipping to commercial customers globally.

Our R&D keeps a tight loop with ICIQ, giving the team continuous access to world-class catalysis science while executing on multi-year industrial roadmaps.
